| Sega Dreamcast hacked? |
| As you may know Sega is using a new CD format, called GD-ROM, for their new Dreamcast console. The GD-ROM is able to store upto 1 Gb of data on a single CD. Now a few hackers are able to copy the Dreamcast games using a DVD recorder. For now they can copy the games but only without the sound tracks. More info when it comes available! |

| Sony stops protecting Games in Japan |

The just released PoPoRogue has been recalled as the game failed to run on older PSX systems (SCPH-1000). It seems that the SCEI protection things that there is a ModChip installed even when there is none there! Because of this I.Q Final won't have a protection.

| New "Switched" ModChip |

| To counteract the recent protected PSX games a new type of ModChip has been made which can enable/disable the ModChip whenever you want.
It uses the SCPH-7000 4-wire ModeChip, a switch is connected to pin 5 & 6 which is used to enable/disable the ModChip.
When you try to load a protected game you first turn on the ModChip and turn it off after the white screen disappears. |

The Patch for Crash Bandicoot 3 Warped is not needed! The Game has NO Copy Protection! It is a lame Fake!!
Well ... on the Amiga i was in PARANOIMIA with Eurosoft long time ago and I spoke with him yesterday and he said that he never released this patch !!

| It seems that Fallout 2 can be copied by most common CD-Writers but Settlers 3/Siedler 3 can only be copied by the TEAC 55S & 532S
CD-Writer. If you have additional CDROMs/CD-Writers/error protected games capable of copying then please let me know! |

| There are some problems with the WebJump server as a few files are sometimes not accessible, I don't know the reason yet as the files are all there... Sometimes it helps to press the browser REFRESH button or just try later. |

| Trip to London |
It has been a bit quiet the last few days overhere, this is because we had a nice (long) weekend in London.
The games in England are still too expensive in the stores, the normal price for a new game is around ? 35,- (= US$ 60 ).
Copying games in the UK is not that big as CD-R's are VERY hard to come by in London, only a few stores are selling them and then only the regular TDK, BASF, Kodak & Koch 74 minutes (most of them don't know of any 80 minutes CD-R's...). The CD-R prices vary from ? 1,20 (= US$ 2) upto ? 5,- (= US$ 9,-) for the same TDK/BASF discs! The cheapest discs were found on Tottenham Court Road (this is where all the cheaper computer stores are).
If you even are going to London then go to SEGA WORLD which is located near Picadilly Circus. There are 7 interactive rides and 400+ arcade machines. In the same building you also find a great IMAX theatre where 2 movies are shown, the T-REX movie is VERY good (a MUST to see)! |

If you send in a CD-Copy or other game fix please add the following infomation (if available):
- Language/Country version (US, UK, FRENCH, GERMAN, SPAIN....)
- CD Volume Label (Case sensitive!)
- Data track size: xxx Mb [xxxxxxx sectors] - can be obtained with EasyCD Pro or any other package
- Audio track sizes (if there are any)
- Protection used (like Laserlock or a small description if it is unknown)
- Which CD Reader was used (brand & type)
- Which CD-Writer was used (brand & type)
- Which software was used (CDRWIN 3.6b, Nero 4.0.0.2, EasyCD Creator 3.5...)
- Which CD-R media was used (brand & type)
CD-Copy problems:
Some people reported problems trying to read or copy original CD's that are protected with unreadable blocks (games like Settlers 3/Siedler 3 and Fallout 2). Usually the imagecopy process stops completely or the CD gets ejected from the drive, in any case it will ruin the CD-R. These problems don't happen when using the newer Yamaha or Teac CD-R55S CD-Writers to read the CD. If your CD-Writer/CDROM is capable of reading/copying the original Siedler/Settlers III or Fallout 2 CD then please let me know so a list can be compiled of working readers.
Tombraider III (PC) runtime error patch problems:
It is possible that the
TR3UPCRK.ZIP [15 KB] fails with a runtime error 200 (on fast computers for sure...). When this happens download TPPATCH here to fix the problem. |

| The ESWARE.NET was slowing down too much (a 256 kbit line was not enough ;). This will remain until a suitable FTP/MIRROR is found (offers are still welcome!). The FortuneCity mirror is online again but it only holds the files smaller than 1 Mb! Check the Mirrors site to see the current active sites.
