I thought your readers might be interested to know how to break David Brabens V2000 cd which uses LaserLok copy protection and Oversized data sizing on the disk. Using NERO recording software (but most can be used), here's what is required ...
- Create a new Mixed Mode CD called V2000. Drag and drop the entire contents of the disk into the image window EXCEPT for the LASERLOK directory. Manually add a LASERLOK directory to the image window.
- Create a file on your harddisk called LAZERLOK.IN (just a tiny text file, or anything, it contents are irrelivant as it's not used). This is to substitute the real LASERLOK.IN file contained on the V2000 cd which contains all the LASERLOK protection and cannot be read. Now add this newly created LASERLOK.IN file into the LASERLOK directory on the image window.
- In the V2000 directory on the image, remove the file V2000.EXE and insert the attached version found in the V2000.ZIP file in it's place. This removes the disk checks from the disk.
- Add the Audio Tracks 2 thru 9 into the Audio Window of the image, Tracks 10 and 11 are dummies to throw out the disk size.
- Burn this revised image to a CD. Success! A full working CD of V2000 awaits...
