Instructions:
- Install the game - Full Installation.
- Copy the following directories from both CD's the game directory:
- <CD1>:\MOVIES to <GAMEDIR>\MOVIES
- <CD1>:\WAVE to <GAMEDIR>\WAVE
- <CD2>:\MOVIES to <GAMEDIR>\MOVIES
- <CD2>:\WAVE to <GAMEDIR>\WAVE
- <CD2>:\DISK2.ID to <GAMEDIR>
- Extract the File Archive game directory - Overwriting existing files.
- Execute the Patch to remove the CD-Check.
- Start XWINGALLIANCE.EXE to play the game!

CD-Copy Instructions
- Make a 1:1 CD-Copy of both CDs.
Patch Instructions:
- Install the game with normal or full installation (both mode work)
- Apply the official X-Wing Alliance 2.02 Update.
- Extract the File Archive to the game directory.
- Execute the X_WING_ALLIANCE_202_CK.EXE Patch.
- Execute/Double-Click the REGSETUP.EXE registry file to update the windows registry.
- Re-Apply the official X-Wing Alliance 2.02 Update.
- Execute XWINGALLIANCE.EXE to play the Game!

The Fixed EXE only defeats the CD Protection, the CDs are still required to play the game!

Fix Instructions:
- First follow one of the previous VTeC/Laxity v1.0, v1.01 or v2.02 instructions.
- Copy the following directories from CD#2 to the game directory:
- Wave\Zaletta to <GAMEDIR>\WAVE
- Wave\Frontend\B*M* to <GAMEDIR>\WAVE\FRONTEND\
- Wave\MissionVoice\B*M* to <GAMEDIR>\WAVE\MISSIONVOICE\
- Extract the X-WINGLAUNCHCR.EXE Patch from the archive to the game directory and execute it.
- Run Regedit.exe and edit the following registry keys and exchange <GAMEDIR> for the root directory of the game installation, e.g. C:\Games\XWingAlliance:
- [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\LucasArts Entertainment Company LLC\X-Wing Alliance\v1.0]

Now the original icons will work (You can run Alliance.EXE) and you can switch pilots for those of you with friends.
This is the only patch which *Fixes* Alliance.EXE.
Without copying additional files you will have no speech after Level 9 (i.e joining Rebellion).
This installation will take up about 820 MB.

Play Instructions:
- Make a *full* HD installation of XWA from CD1.
- Copy the complete directory WAVE from CD1 to the XWA root directory, e.g. C:\GAMES\XWA.
- Copy the complete MOVIES directory from CD1 to the XWA root directory. This will add some files to the XWA MOVIES dir.
- Copy the file DISK2.ID from CD2 to the XWA root directory.
- Copy all BATTLE*.SMN files from the MOVIES dir on CD2 to the XWA MOVIES directory, e.g. C:\GAMES\XWA\MOVIES.
- Apply the X-Wing Alliance 2.02 Update.
- Copy the supplied registry setup file regsetup.exe to the XWA root directory and execute it to adjust the game registry settings for No-CD playing.
- Remove the read-only attribute from XWAINGALLIANCE.EXE (if necessary).
- Finally copy the crack XWA202CR.EXE to the XWA root directory and execute the crack.
- Execute XWINGALLIANCE.EXE to play the game.

The complete No-CD installation takes up ~900 Mb of HD space. If you want to bring this down later, you can delete the big movie files from the "MOVIE" directory. And this time they briefing speech should play. |
