If you want the play the English/International version on a German Windows then a Error message will popup:

this is an international version of the game that can not be run on a German Windows

To fix this to by-pass this "protection" just goto the Control Panel and click Regional Settings. Now change the current Regional Settings to:

English (United States)

Play the game!

Note:

Any other combination of language settings is of course also possible
