| Playing old games on a new OS, like Vista or on a brand new Dual/Quad-Core PC sometimes results in the game not working, this can be a disappointment as there are usually no patches to solve these problems. |
| There are ways to bypass certain compatibility problems which the gamemakers did not foresee at the time, but for some there is just no solution available. One of these problems was that the current processors contain more than one processor-core, which can cause a crash for certain games like Thief, Thief 2, Deus Ex, Deus Ex: Invisible Wars, Dungeon Keeper 2 & System Shock 2. |
| This is where OneProcessorLaunch comes in, created by TippeX, one of the guys behind ProtectionID. It acts like a launcher and before starting the actual game it forces the game to only access one processor-core, this solves a lot of game crashes for the above games. |
